AI4IV Featured in
INSIDE Magazine

March 06, 2026 – AI4IV has been featured in the latest issue of INSIDE Magazine, the official publication of the INSIDE Industry Association.

INSIDE Magazine is a leading publication within Europe’s Intelligent Digital Systems ecosystem. Being featured in its pages places AI4IV among the companies, research institutes, and policymakers contributing to the development of Europe’s deep-tech capabilities and technological autonomy. The magazine provides a platform for innovations transitioning from research to large-scale industrial deployment.

In the article, titled “Bio-Inspired Vision for the Era of Physical AI” AI4IV’s CSO Fabio Gallo discusses a major shift in the evolution of Artificial Intelligence: the transition from purely digital systems to AI embedded in physical machines. As AI becomes increasingly integrated into systems such as autonomous vehicles, industrial robots, and smart infrastructure, vision is emerging as a foundational capability for safety, reliability, and performance.

The article highlights a key limitation of today’s machine vision systems. Most CMOS image sensors were originally designed for human photography and can struggle in the high-contrast lighting conditions typical of real-world environments. This can introduce perceptual errors at the source that downstream image processing cannot fully correct.

To address this challenge, AI4IV is developing a bio-inspired vision architecture based on principles observed in insect compound eyes. AI4IV’s FlyEye™ technology replaces traditional monolithic pixel arrays with autonomous photoreceptors that independently adapt to local light intensity, enabling the capture of clean, information-rich visual data even in challenging lighting conditions.

The article outlines how this approach can help enable the next generation of AI systems operating in the physical world.
